When Do You Need a Chimney Inspection?
It’s important to have your chimney inspected yearly to ensure it is functioning safely. However, you may need to have it inspected sooner if any of the following apply:
You’re experiencing a problem with your chimney system or noticed a change in its performance.
Your chimney has been damaged due to extreme weather, fire, or age.
You’re moving into a new home and want to ensure it is working properly for your peace of mind.
Types of Chimney Inspections
During a chimney inspection, the inspector will look for damage and any potential structural issues. There are three types of chimney inspections available depending on the level of severity.
-
A basic inspection that checks the easily accessible parts of your chimney for any obvious signs of damage.
-
A full inspection of the inside of your chimney. This type of inspection usually requires specialized equipment and is used if you suspect your chimney is damaged.
-
A thorough inspection of all parts of your chimney, including hidden portions that may require specialized tools. This is usually done when there is evidence of structural damage.
If it has been more than a year since your last inspection or you suspect that your chimney has been damaged due to weather or animal activity, give us a call. Our masonry experts are ready to assist with all of your chimney needs.
